PREPARATION OF HOME FOR SUMMER MONTHS
TURN OFF main water valve for the inside of home only. You will want to leave your outdoor water going for landscaping
- Set water heaters to “Vacation” and unplug recirculating pumps
- Toilets should be flushed; water should be run through all sinks and drains every few weeks to avoid smells. Make sure water is turned on and then back off again for this procedure
- Cover all drains & or close stoppers. Keep toilets shut
- Clean and store outdoor furniture and cushions in the garage
- Wash doorway mats and store in garage
- Empty all wastebaskets and trash compactors
- Turn off gas valve at BBQ
- Put cover on BBQ
- Lock all windows and doors
- Close all curtains and blinds
- Remove batteries from fireplace igniters and remotes
- Cover the front of the fireplaces with green garbage bags to avoid outside heat entering the house.
- Temp setting 88 degrees for A/C on all thermostats
- Take all Batteries out of remotes for TV’s ceiling fans and electric shade
- Turn off icemakers in all refrigerators
- Set refrigerators to 43-45 if empty (Normal is 38)
Set Freezer to +5 if empty (Normal is 0)
Set Cooler Drawers to 45 if empty (Normal 34-36)
Turn Wine coolers off but leave doors ajar (if empty) - Turn off all electronics
- Unplug power to modem & unplug TV
- Unscrew hoses and store in garage
- Clean gutters
- Clean golf carts – prepare them for summer by charging and putting in the tow position. Make sure batteries have water in them if water based.
- Cars & golf carts should be driven every few weeks during summer months to avoid tire damage and battery failure
